True love goes beyond material things yet material things are the ways we know to show true love. And yet the absence of love in the presence of material things isn’t enough. The irony of life😭

Absolutely amazing!! I feel the same way about love making you forget your checkboxes. And now, I really need to see the Materialists!

You haven’t watched it yet 😭 I thought your recent was also inspired by the movie

Someone else said the same thing! I’ve been sick for like a week so I haven’t been able to make it to the movies, but I’m going as soon as I’m better—clearly I need to see the movie I’m accidentally referencing lol!

I have not seen the movie yet, do not know if I will despite past lives being truly jaw dropping. Still, this deeply screams matter Matters from Her. Maybe I am just too shaken from Her still and my overwhelming disdain for AI

My jaw dropped when I read this line: “The most loving thing isn’t finding someone who checks all the boxes, but someone who makes you forget there were boxes at all.”

Incredible work.

So do you think Lucy settled in any way by getting back with her ex-boyfriend, or it is just true love make her forget most of her usual checkboxes?

'you accept the love you think you deserve'. Gosh that cut deep.. talks so much about self love and what we feel we actually deserve.... what a beautiful, hard-hitting read.

Beautifully written. My understanding of this essay is that love is what two people need to make it work. But doesn't this lend itself into over-romanticising life in a way that doesn't translate to reality. If this were the case, people who fall in love wouldn't fall out of it. Checkboxes can get in the way, but aren't they also a form of protection from being with and falling for the wrong person. We could probably love a lot of people, but should we?
